October 2022 Animal Husbandry and Barn Management Learning Program

$320.00

Animal Husbandry and Barn Management is a 1 hour class offered weekly for 4 week.

Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm on October 13, 20, 27, and November 3

Open to ages 11 to 14, this learning program will focus on horse, donkey, goat, and chicken care as well as fostering communication and empathy skills.

Although this group is run by licensed therapists, it is an educational program that does not require an intake.

Students can expect to learn animal care, handling, and safety for horses, donkeys, goats, and chickens, as well as barn and farm maintenance and management, developing confidence and assertive communication skills, making lasting relationships with humans and animals, gaining accountability and independence. This program is facilitated by Shagin, a licensed clinical therapist with 10+ years experience in education.

The group will run with 4 sign ups, and is capped at 10 participants.

Participants should wear comfortable, weather appropriate, washable clothes, and closed-toed shoes (like boots or sneakers).

We offer a 2 tiered learning program for animal husbandry and horse farm management for students ages 11 and up. Students can take this program as many times as they’d like, until they qualify for our Barn Management and Leadership class (also a 4 hour class offered in a similar schedule pattern). Once both classes are complete, participants may be offered an invitation to our Working Student program and become a farm volunteer!
